Consulting & Mentoring for Nature-Based Early Childhood Programs
I support early childhood programs in strengthening and expanding nature-based, outdoor learning practices through responsive, relationship-based consulting and mentoring.
My work is rooted in lived experience, observation, and collaboration with entire program teams. I work both on-site and virtually, supporting programs as they move toward more intentional, consistent, and confident outdoor practice.
How I Work
I work with directors, educators, and full program teams.
My approach is both structured and flexible—ranging from short-term consultation for specific challenges to longer-term mentoring relationships that support deeper, sustained program change.
Support may include on-site visits, virtual meetings, reflection, and ongoing guidance as practices are integrated over time.
Areas of Support
I support programs in:
Increasing consistent outdoor time and nature-based learning (with the goal of significantly expanding time outdoors for children)
Supporting educators in feeling confident, equipped, and inspired in outdoor environments
Strengthening daily rhythms, transitions, and outdoor flow
Reimagining behavior through environment, relationship, and developmental lens
Supporting inclusion and offering guidance toward appropriate supports for children with diverse needs
Building nature-based practices that can become embedded as long-term program culture
My Role in Your Program
I come in as a supportive, experienced, and curious outside perspective.
Clients often describe my work as:
supportive
creative
full of ideas and suggestions
deeply knowledgeable about children and human development
grounding and reassuring
helping teams feel seen, heard, and valued
curious rather than directive
My role is not to impose a system, but to observe, reflect, and respond to what is actually happening in yourprogram.
What You Can Expect
Programs I work with often experience:
increased time and confidence outdoors for children
staff feeling more equipped and supported
greater clarity in outdoor routines and expectations
a shift toward more play-based, nature-centered practice
stronger understanding of children through an environmental and relational lens
increased confidence supporting diverse developmental needs
Best Fit For This Work
This work is best suited for programs that:
are genuinely committed to moving toward outdoor, nature-based practice
are willing to shift culture, not just add outdoor time as an “extra”
prioritize children, play, and relationship as foundational
have leadership and staff openness to change, even if they are at different stages of readiness
are looking for real, embodied, sustainable transformation—not surface-level adjustment
It is not a fit for programs that are not interested in moving toward outdoor practice or that are not open to meaningful change in how children experience their day.
What I Do Not Offer
To keep this work aligned and effective, I do not provide:
academic curriculum consulting or academic programming advice
licensing consulting (though I can support you in navigating challenges that arise licensing requirements)
